Peggy Jean Killingsworth, age 82, of Mesquite, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on October 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice that she is finally home—whole, restored, and in the presence of her Savior whom she loved so dearly.
Peggy was born in Dalhart, Texas, on September 29, 1943, to Weldon and Nelda Baskin. She married the love of her life, Anthony Killingsworth, on September 1, 1962, and together they shared 63 years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion, and faith.
Peggy and Tony raised four wonderful children—Weldon, Stephen, Andy, and Angie. A very sporty group of kids, Peggy and Tony spent countless hours attending ball games, and they filled their free time as a family camping and adventuring on the lake.
Before beginning her long career as a secretary for the Dallas Central Appraisal District, where she served for over 20 years with dedication and kindness, Peggy spent many years caring for children in her home. This work allowed her to be present for her own children while nurturing countless others as if they were her own.
Peggy took great pride in being part of the Red Hat Society, a sisterhood of older women who celebrated friendship, joy, and living life to the fullest. She was part of two chapters, Clicky Chicks and Ladybugs. She cherished her time attending charity events and shows, playing games, and being stopped by everyone who encountered them in their outlandish red and purple attire.
Later in life, Peggy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flowers, enjoying the beauty of nature, and turning the clouds into creatures. Inside, she could be found piecing together puzzles or sitting around the kitchen table playing King’s Corner with her family. Peggy’s dog, Gidget, was her constant companion and could always be found by her side. Peggy and Tony also welcomed a stray cat they lovingly called Cat, who quickly favored Peggy and brought comfort to her days.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon and Nelda Baskin. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tony, her children Weldon & Cherri, Stephen & Lorane, Andy & Lisa, Angela & Todd, and Brittney & Morris. She was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren: Colton & Megan, Ashley & Michael, Trenton & Danielle, Jacob & Madison, Brianna & Tom, Lilia, Tanner, Laney, Trevor, Dominic, Mia Mae, Emma, and Max, and 7 great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Stetson, Luke, Lauren, Leighton, Layla, and Finley.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Senior Helpers, especially Shonda, Ida, and Bridget, for their loving care and compassion during Peggy’s final season of life, and to Bristol Hospice for their gentle support in her final days.
Peggy’s life was defined by love—love for her Lord, her husband, her children, and every soul she cared for along the way. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished
