Rosendo Federico Saldana (later adopted and became Roy Fred Wyatt), was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Mary Lucy Pruneda Wyatt and Jesse Saldana on September 18, 1954. He passed from this world after a lengthy illness due to complications from diabetes on June 22, 2026.
Roy grew up in Kerrville, Texas, and even though he moved to the Dallas area for the better part of his life, Kerrville was always considered home. He, along with his whole family, worked at The Acapulco Café, opened by his maternal grandparents in the ‘60’s. He was a very good cook and still prepared his grandparents’ recipes for many years. His final occupation before retiring was as a remote salesman selling funeral plans to Veterans.
Roy loved playing the drums and was really good at it and for a few years played with a band named Millstone Mist. Some of his best memories were playing gigs.
He also had a passion for classic cars, but his greatest love was a car he had in the ‘70’s, a 1968 bright green Camaro with white stripes. It was his dream car and for years, wished he could restore it but never did. But even in his final weeks, he still talked about that car and said he had dreams of driving it around the Kerrville Hills.
Roy is preceded in death by his mom, Lucy Wyatt, his adopted father, Seth Wyatt, his dad Jesse Saldana, his grandparents, his brother Mario Saldana and his oldest daughter Adonia Santos.
He is survived by his son Sebastian Saldana, his daughter Sabrena Richards, his sisters Diane Thompson, Delores Saldana, Grace Chavez, his brother Shelby Day and many cousins, aunts, nieces and nephews.
It would be remiss to not mention his amazing, angels on earth neighbors, Leo and Lulu Mendez. They cared for him even in the hardest of circumstances and cooked for him nearly nightly for several years and became family to Roy. He loved them and they loved him and Roy’s family is so very grateful for their giving hearts.
He had a life not always perfectly lived, but he lived, and died, on his own terms. May he forever rest in peace.
