Thankamma Abraham, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and servant of God, entered into eternal rest on August 20, 2026, at the age of 77. She now rests with her husband, parents, and three siblings in heavenly paradise.
Thankamma was born on June 1, 1949, in Othera, Kerala, India, to the late KP Yohannan and Annamma Yohannan. She graduated from Philadelphia School of Nursing in Ambala City, Haryana, India with a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma (1969-1972). She then worked at Philadelphia Hospital from 1972-1974. Thankamma immigrated to Dallas in January 1975 and stayed with her uncle. During her time in Dallas, she became a Registered Nurse and ultimately worked at a local hospital until March 1977.
On April 21, 1977, she married the late Kandankulathu Abraham, affectionately known as Thankachen, of Naranganam, Pathanamthitta, India. Thankachen joined Thankamma in Dallas in December 1977. Thereafter, she worked at Garland Community Hospital from 1978-2001. From 2001-2013, she worked at Doctor’s Hospital and retired in December 2013.
Thankamma and Thankachen lived a blissful life of faith and love. They both were a part of the founding members of the Mar Thoma community in Grand Prairie, which ultimately led to the formation of Sehion Mar Thoma Church in Plano. Both of them were very active in church. Thankamma served with great zeal and love in Sevika Sangham, Edavaka Mission, and Sehion STARS.
After her retirement, she enjoyed her time with Thankachen tending to their garden, cooking, traveling, and spending time with their grandson. She is survived by her son, Dr. Aby Abraham; daughter-in-law, Susan Abraham; and grandson, Ethan Abraham. She is also survived by her sister, Leelamma Thomas; cousins, extended family, and friends.
Thankamma’s smile, wisdom, and loving spirit will live forever in our hearts and minds. She will be sorely missed but not for long since we shall meet again in eternity. May her legacy of faith in God and love live on for generations to come, bringing smiles to every home.
A Religious Ceremony will be held at Sehion Mar Thoma Church, 3760 14th Street, Plano, Texas 75074, on September 5, 2026, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a Committal Service at The Rolling Oaks Memorial Center, Owned, Operated, & Managed by The City of Coppell, 400 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, Texas 75019, on September 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
