Wanda Jane Cochran Shaw (March 30, 1926 – April 2, 2018) Lifelong Dallas County resident Wanda Shaw passed away peacefully on Monday surrounded by her loving family. Wanda was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mesquite and was an active and devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Although she led a quiet life, in the early 1940s, she and her older sister performed in their father’s band, the Happy Swingsters, every Saturday night in Mesquite’s downtown square. Wanda enjoyed traveling later in life, exploring America from coast to coast, with her adoring husband, Bill, who preceded her in death in 1991. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents William A. and Beulah Cochran and sister Maxie McAdams. Wanda is survived by children Debra Fagin and husband Steve of Mesquite and Larry Shaw and wife Linda of Glen Rose; sister Sue Bannister of Garland; grandchildren Stephen and Christopher Fagin of Mesquite and Michael Shaw of Glen Rose; and their families. Our Nana was much loved and will be missed, but she remains forever in our hearts. A visitation will be held at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzales funeral home in Mesquite on Wednesday, April 4, from 6PM to 8PM. A graveside service will be held at Mesquite City Cemetery on Thursday, April 5, at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Wanda’s memory to the Visiting Nurse Association of Dallas (vnatexas.org).
