He was born on November 29th 2004 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He had a short but meaningful life. He battled Pearson syndrome, a severe mitochondrial disease, with great courage for his entire 17 years.
Aidan possessed a positive outlook and was innately kind. He regularly shared gifts or compliments with others. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and his cat Percy. He enjoyed traveling on family vacations. One of his favorite trips was to Paris, France. Aidan took great pleasure in listening to music and dancing. He was a fan of musical theatre and found great comfort in Musical Therapy. He enjoyed cooking and reading and was always interested in learning new topics.
During his grade school years, he attended Saint Paul’s Episcopal school. He worked diligently to be a good student and friend. He was supported by the loving St. Paul’s community.
He will be missed beyond measure.
Aidan is survived by his father Jose A Calatayud, Mother, GiGi Bourgeois, Sister, Adelaide Calatayud, Grandfather Jose A Calatayud, Grandmother, Joyclen Bourgeois, Uncle, Andre Bourgeois, Godfather, Armando Papi, Godmother Gabriela Thompson and many great uncles great aunts, cousins friends and close neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Hendrix “Eppie” Bourgeois and Grandmother Julieta Papi Calatayud.

Funeral services will be at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 6249 Canal Blvd, New Orleans LA. On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, visitation will begin at 4:30PM with the Memorial Service beginning at 5:30PM. Following the services there will be a reception at O' Farrell Hall. Aidan and his family actively supported The Champ Foundation and the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, UMDF, that are working on a cure for this heartbreaking disease.
