

Albert Frank Voltolina, Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Metairie, LA. Albert retired from the Whitney National Bank after working there for 43 years. He began his employment in 1947 as a “Runner” and retired in 1990 as Vice-President, heading up the Data Processing Department. Albert was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and the Tulane University School of Business. Albert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served with the First Marine Division during the Korean War. During his service he was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries in action and was proud to be a member of the “Chosin Few”. Albert was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Veterans of Foreign War. In his retirement, he became active with the Marine Corps League, Paul E. Boyd Detachment 579, where he was elected to serve as Commandant three times. He also served as the State Commandant of the Marine Corps League twice. He was twice honored by the Paul E. Boyd Detachment as Marine of the Year. He was proud that as Commandant, he worked as Co-Chair with General James Livingston (USMC, ret.) to bring the Young Marines Program to Louisiana and Jefferson Parish. Albert was a loving and giving husband and father. He was a talented woodworker and loved classic westerns. He was also a lifetime member of the Irish Setter Club of Greater New Orleans. Albert was preceded in death by his parents Peter F. “Rino” Voltolina, Sr. and Francesca Engolia Voltolina, and his infant son Peter F. Voltolina. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 66 years, Joyce Feraud Voltolina, his children: Deborah V. Boyd, Judith M. Voltolina, Albert F. “Chip” Voltolina, Jr. (Cindy), Jan Voltolina-Maestri, and Edwin P. Voltolina; his grandchildren: John D. Boyd, Jr. (Mary), Albert “Tre” Voltolina, III, Adam Voltolina, and Brenden Maestri; and his great-grandchildren: Connor Boyd and Collin Boyd. Albert is also survived by his brothers Rudolph A. Voltolina, Sr. (Delores), Peter F. Voltolina, Jr. (the late Ruby), his sister Elsa V. Lecke (the late William) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and cousins both here and in Italy. Family and Friends are invited to attend his celebration of life at LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Saturday afternoon, October 7, 2017 at 1:00.
