Mr. Allen Joseph Wiltz Sr.

Allen J. Wiltz Sr. was called home Monday June 13, 2011, he was 86 years old. Mr. Wiltz is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Betty N. Wiltz, a son Allen J. Wiltz Jr. and a daughter Patricia W. Cantin. Four Grandchildren: Cherie Cantin Levert, Rachel Cantin, Joy Wiltz and Jill Wiltz, and one great grandchild, Lucy Levert. Mr. Wiltz was a silent but Godly man who loved his bride unceasingly. His love of aviation and music never waned throughout his life. His example of honesty and integrity will be his legacy. Mr. Wiltz was a Navy Veteran who served his country as a Navy Sea Bee in the Pacific during WWII. Mr. Wiltz was very active with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a registered Boy Scout for over 50 years, an Air Explorer Scout Squadron 503 leader for 20 years and a recipient of The Silver Beaver Award in 1964. In 1959 he chartered the Crescent City Radio Control Club in New Orleans. He retired from New Orleans Public Service (NOPSI) as a gas systems designer after 37 years of dedicated service. Mr. Wiltz was a musician who played in various musical organizations such as the New Orleans Civic Symphony, Natchitoches Civic Symphony, American Legion Posts 125 & 175, New Orleans Police and Jefferson Parish Community Bands. Mr. Wiltz was a parishioner at St. Christopher and St. Benilde Catholic Churches in Metairie and of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Natchitoches, LA. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus. In addition to his great accomplishments, Mr. Wiltz was a master model builder and was on the board of directors for the Wedell-Williams State Aviation Museum, now the Official LA. State Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Industry Museum in Patterson, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass, Saturday June 18, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. at Tharp -Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA. with visitations on Friday 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and after 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
