Althea (Dee) Theresa Betz Malbrough, of Metairie passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 95. She was born January 10, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Edward Aloysius Betz and Theresa Wilhelmina Edel Cazes Betz. She found her soul mate and partner for life at the age of 22, and married Milward John Malbrough of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dee graduated from Rabouin Memorial School in 1947 and upon graduation worked as a salesclerk for Sears and Roebuck. Within a few years she and her husband started M.J. Malbrough Dozer Services where she participated in daily operations of the business.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward A. Betz and Theresa W. Edel Cazes Betz; husband, Milward J Malbrough Sr.; brothers, Dominick Cazes Jr, Peter Betz; sisters, Eleanor (Noni) Cazes Escude, Joyce B. Miller, June B. Balderas, Maxine B. Woodruff, Frances B. Schlottman. She is survived by her brother, Edward (Buddy) Betz and his wife Maria (Shookie) Betz; her children, Theresa Malbrough Achor and husband Noel, Milward (Mel) J. Malbrough Jr. and wife Ellen, Charmaine Malbrough Bixler and husband Dean, Mona Malbrough, Laura Malbrough Lohse and husband Greg; grandsons, Eric Malbrough, Jordan Lohse; granddaughters, Amanda Malbrough Hebert and husband Kyle, Allison Bixler, Hannah Lohse; great-grandson Dakota Malbrough; great-granddaughters, Rae Malbrough, Sophia Hebert, Madison Hebert.
Dee enjoyed family gatherings, whatever the function she always had a great time. Her life was filled with music, she loved to sing and dance. She had a passion for children, loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 on Thursday March 30, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Rosary to be recited during the visitation and on Friday, March 31, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
