Andrew Joseph “A.J.” Aymami Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior in Metairie, LA on September 21, 2022. He was a native of Carrollton (New Orleans) and a resident of Metairie. He was born on October 21, 1939 to the late Andrew Joseph Aymami and Edna Claire Anderson.
A.J. is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Katherine Trombino Aymami; his daughters, Antoinette (Ann) Aymami Braun (Kenneth) and Elizabeth “Missy” Aymami; four grandchildren, Brittany Braun Guy (Collin), Brooke Braun (Kevin), Katherine Margaret Post, Abigail Elizabeth Post and a great-grandson, Connor Andrew Guy. He is also survived by a sister, Naomi Markey (Earl); two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Linda Aymami; his godmother, Lucille “DeeDee” Gebhardt and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six of his siblings: John G. "Jack" Aymami, Juliette A Sheffield, Thomas L. Aymami, Joseph Aymami, Nathalie Aymami and Gretchen Aymami.
A.J. had a successful career starting as a mechanic assistant at George Engine followed by a leadership position at Stewart and Stevenson in Harvey, Louisiana where he later retired. His travels around the world were during his working career. A.J. was an avid fisherman, a volunteer at EJGH where he volunteered for 18 years in Same Day Surgery and was a Masonic Brother. He was a member of various lodges: Worshipful Master at Square & Compass Lodge, Metairie Lodge 444 F & AM, Forum Lodge #395, and Alpha Home Lodge No 72. More than anything, he cherished his time spent with his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life to be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie, Louisiana on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. A Masonic service will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Christian service at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be private in LakeLawn Park in New Orleans.
