

He was 83 years old, a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He passed away at Cannon Hospice Elmwood Campus, under the care of his angels here on earth for the past 7 months. He attended St. Joseph Grammar School and S.J. Peters High School. He worked at Jax Brewery for 25 years until retirement when he purchased The World Famous Cajun Inn, a bar located in the neighborhood where he was born and raised.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Mayme Giglio Delpidio, daughter Susan Delpidio Gowland (Paul), grandson Christopher Joseph Stromboe (Katie), great-grandchildren Cole, Klaire, and Drew, sisters Blanche Delpidio Duffy (Floyd), and Judy Delpidio, sister in law Rosemary Giglio Nuss, longtime friend Larry, many nieces, nephews, cousins family and friends. He is also survived by many friends at neighborhood bar Uncle Joe’s, who were like family for many years. Charlie would want to be remembered by the saying, “I did it my way.”
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Thelma Rita Thompson, and son Christopher Andrew Delpidio.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1 PM. Visitation is from 11AM until 1PM.
