As the new year dawned on January 1, Ms. Angela "Angie" Molinario Macaluso, 61, of Kenner, succumbed sooner than expected at East Jefferson General Hospital. A devoted employee of the gaming industry representing various truck stop casinos and off track gambling establishments over the past 15 years, Ms. Macaluso never met a stranger, cultivating a loyal customer base from a wide assortment of backgrounds through her gregarious charm. An avid foodie with a refined palate whose sweet tooth often craved sno-balls, frappuccinos and gourmet pastries/chocolates, she delighted in discovering and recommending to her vast network of friends on social media the hidden gem restaurants that fly under the radar in the culinary mecca of New Orleans. Endowed with a preternaturally strong curiosity, disarming demeanor and unflinching candor, Ms. Macaluso served as the unofficial therapist/doctor that friends and family relied upon for prudent guidance on managing the stress and strife of everyday life, often employing self-deprecation while openly sharing her own troubles and ailments as a means of reinforcing the legitimacy of her counsel. In her spare time, the Scrabble enthusiast could often be found huddled over her smartphone, engaged in a battle of wits with online opponents for hours on end, while also taking pleasure in following the exploits of the characters on her favorite soap opera, “The Young and the Restless” and making a point to faithfully check PostSecret.com every Sunday evening. Having remarked at her weariest that "if you can't enjoy your customary standard of living, what's the point?", her loved ones will find solace in the fond memories she leaves behind and the fresh start that awaits her, free from the pain, phobias and fears that plagued her earthly existence. Born to the late Anthony "Tony" James Molinario, Sr. and Anna Mae Viola Molinario on July 11, 1956, Angela, a lifelong resident of the New Orleans metropolitan area and graduate of Cabrini High, is survived by her two younger brothers Anthony "Tony", Jr. and Vincent, her younger sister Antoinette "Rosie," her beloved children Todd, Justin and Erin along with a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Her family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at East Jefferson General Hospital, particularly the 3rd floor nurses who gently and patiently attended her. To celebrate her life, donations may be made in honor of Ms. Macaluso to the charity of your choice or by performing a random act of kindness for those in need. A visitation will begin Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm and a Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm. Condolences may be left for the family at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
