

She was born on September 17, 1925 to the late Frank Rogers and Elizabeth Rogers in Edwardsville, Illinois. She and her husband, Thomas, moved to New Orleans in 1973 and have lived in Waggaman since 1989. They have been married seventy-two years. Anita graduated from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville campus and received her Masters Degree in Sociology from St. Louis University. In addition to being Board Certified in the state of Louisiana, she has board certification in Illinois, Missouri, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Most of her social work experience was with Travelers Aid, in New Orleans. Her work assignments took her to South Korea where she did work with the adoption of orphans. She also was involved in the Vietnam refuge relocation program.
She was the mother of Leslie Ann Kolesa of Martinez, California, Scott Thomas Kolesa (deceased) and Timothy Frank Kolesa of Waggaman, La. She was the grandmother of Anthony Kolesa, New Orleans, Dylan Kolesa, Gretna, Corey Weiand, Petaluma, California and Ron Weiand of Martinez, California. She was great-grandmother of Felix and Cameron Kolesa of Kenmore, Washington and Emma and Kaleigh Weiand of Petaluma, California and Seth Ockert of Ponchatoula, La.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Alfred Rogers, Howard Rogers and sisters Verna Rohrkaste and Nellie Gusewelle and her son, Rev. Scott Thomas Kolesa.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at the Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Metairie, visitation beginning at 11:00, followed by the memorial service at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Illinois University or the St. Louis University scholarship funds.
