Ann Ruth Bowlen (Gillette) Ruiz

Ann Ruth Bowlen (Gillette) Ruiz, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 93. She was the daughter of the late Felicie Adams Gillette and stepdaughter of the late Hamilton C. "Brother" Gillette. She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Ruiz, of 72 years. Survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

She was a dental assistant at Loyola University Dental School, then worked at LSU Dental School as a dental assistant, later becoming a Supervisor of Patient Assignment.

Ann loved working in her rose garden and tending to her plants. Her compassion and love of animals led her to care for stray kittens, and there was always a loving home for her beloved dogs.

Ann touched many lives and will always be remembered by those who loved her.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, followed by the Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow at St. Patrick No. 1 Cemetery, 5000 Canal St., New Orleans, LA.
