Annette Short Spadora was born August 7, 1923 in Ellis County, Texas. She died peacefully at the age of 102 on November 7, 2025 in Kenner, Louisiana. She was a devoted wife to her husband Joe Spadora, whom she married October 3, 1942. They had one child, Joe “Skipper” Spadora, Jr (Marilyn). Annette was preceded in death by her husband and son, as well as her parents, Napoleon Lee Short and Susan Pearl Stricklin Short, six brothers, and one sister. She is survived by four grandsons, Jason Rigol (Karla), Chris Rigol (Holly), Michael Spadora (Sara), and Paul Spadora. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Annette was best known for her quilting, crocheting, and crafting creations, which she continually gifted to family, friends, and even strangers. She was also an excellent conversationalist and was sure to “tickle” her audience with a vast array of country sayings and figures of speech. For over a century, her mind was as sharp as a tack, probably due to her voracious appetite for crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and dominoes.
At her request, no formal service will be held. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas. Her burial will be private. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed using the following link: www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
