

Austin Edward Gautier Jr., age 84, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Austin E. Gautier Sr. and Leona Anderson Gautier, and his sister, Sandra A. Gautier. He was married to his beloved wife Patricia (Patsy) Courtney Gautier for 63 years, who also preceded him in death. His children survive him: Austin J. Gautier (Cassie) and Keri G. McCutchan (Mark). Austin was the proud grandfather of Sandra C. Gautier (Jon), Braeden A. McCutchan (Emily), Adeline R. Gautier, and Bryce C. McCutchan. He was also the loving uncle to the late Patrick C. Uli.
Austin was raised in New Orleans and resided in Metairie for over fifty years. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and Twentynine Palms, California. He retired from Coastal Cargo after working many years in the stevedoring industry in New Orleans. He was devoted to his family, and his greatest joy was spending time with the love of his life, Patsy, and their two children, Austin and Keri. Austin adored his four grandchildren and was endlessly proud of each of them. He was an avid sports fan and loved LSU football, and baseball, the New Orleans Saints, NASCAR, and golf. He loved to travel and fondly remembered trips to Alaska and Hawaii. He was a parishioner of St. Ann Church in Metairie. He left an indelible impression on everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana, on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that Masses be said in Austin's honor. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana.
