Bailey “Billy” James Wallis, Jr. was born on November 25, 1936 in New Orleans and a resident of Abita Springs since 1997. He passed away peacefully on August 14, 2018 at the age of 81. Preceded in death by his wife, Cherie McCabe whom he was married to for 47 years. Survived by his children, Elizabeth Wallis Carter (Emile), Jamie Wallis (Rebecca LaBruzza), Lisa Wallis Edwards (Martyn) and Jean Wallis Hancock (Eric). Also survived by his five granddaughters, Angelique Carter, Tanya Carter, CPT Abby Edwards, Emily Edwards, and Heidi Wallis and by his sister, Carolyn Wallis Roy, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey Wallis, Sr. and Thelma Sanchez and his siblings, Joseph Wallis and Rosary Wallis Zenzer.
He was an active member of St. Jane de Chantel Parish. He was a member of the International Union of Operators Engineers Local 406. He was employed at Treuting Incorporated Contractors for over 50 years.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Passages Hospice for their loving care - especially Jamei, Lori, Teka and Amanda along with private sitters, Beverly, Danielle and Laurie.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Jane de Chantal Church, 72040 Maple Street, Abita Springs, LA 70420. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Toomer Cemetery, Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe, LA 70445. Reception to follow at Alice’s Restaurant 28505 US-190, Lacombe, LA 70445.
