She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 70 years, Terence Maderson, her daughters, Julie Hinchliffe (Gerry), Terri Ann Collins (Mel), her grandsons Kyle Mickles (Angela), Andrew Mickles (Sidney), Joshua Mickles (Tracy), Jack Collins, and Ross Collins (Emily). They are survived by 8 grandchildren, Rhett, Cecily, and Reid Mickles, Kaylee and Molly Mickles, and Eleanor, Luke and William Collins.
She is also survived by her sisters, Jill Peyton, Jacqueline Webre, and Vivian Johnson, as well as 16 nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and godchildren, and countless dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother Newton M. Fisk, Jr., his wife, Drucy Fisk, her nephew Thomas Peyton, Jr., and her brothers-in-law Thomas Peyton, Sr., and Ronald Johnson.
Barbie was a graduate of Sacred Heart of Jesus High School and met the love of her life, Terry, when she was just 15 years old. Four years later, they were married on September 3, 1956, beginning a lifetime filled with love and laughter that endured for 7 decades.
Barbie dedicated her life to her husband, family and her faith. She led her large, close and extended family with kindness and generosity grounded in her strong Catholic values. She was an ardent prayer warrior for any and all prayer intentions given to her and joyfully praised her Lord and Savior when those prayers were answered.
Barbie and Terry were active members of Our Lady of Divine Providence Church in Metairie, helping to raise funds and build the church complex in the 1960s. In 1975, they moved to Kenner, where they later joined St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, which eventually became Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Barbie was a committed member of the Divine Mercy parish community, founded the Rosary group, edited the church bulletin, enjoyed her weekly adoration and was very close to clergy serving and enjoying delicious meals with them. She was also involved in the Chateau Estates Garden Club for many years and enjoyed painting at the Jefferson Parish Recreational Department.
The family extends their profound gratitude to her many caregivers, especially Dr. Robert Greer, the CCU staff at EJ, Visiting Angels and Notre Dame Hospice, for their kind, loving, and dedicated care.
Services will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy., Kenner, LA 70065, July 10, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 until the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Austin Barr beginning at noon. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred at Divine Mercy Catholic Church.
