Betty Louise Rourke

This is to announce the passing of Betty Becnel Rourke from this life into her next.Betty died of post-operative complications on Sunday April 3rd. Cherished wife of Warren J. Rourke ,son of the late Marcia Clerc Rourke ,Their marriage endured over 62 years. Beloved Mother of Rebecca E.Rourke of New Orleans,and Randall Rourke of Houston TX.Eldest daughter of the late Ione Anderson Becnel and Albin J.Becnel,long time residents of Old Metairie.Dear Sister of Denny B.McGovern and Sister-in-law of Cary F. McGovern, of Mandeville,Albione Mahoney of San Fransisco CA and Kerala,India, and Sr.Babrbara Becnel O.S.U. former Ursuline Provincialate now residing in Coppel TX. Aunt of Clay Becnel McGovern and family of Dallas TX, David M. McGovern and Family of Los Angeles, CA, Alexandra Mahoney and family of Morristown NJ, and Deirdre Mahoney of Berkeley CA.Sister-in-law of the late Dr.John C.Rourke and Catherine M. Rourke of Metairie and Robert C.Rourke of Nashville TN and family,Betty is sadly missed by her companion Gray-cee, their bond lasting 14 years.

Betty is also survived by many Anderson and Becnel relatives.Betty has many long time friends from Mater-Dolorosa school,Dominican High School,the Carrolton neighborhood, South Central Bell Telephone Co, and her Card Group all of whom she valued knowing throughout this life,Notably Betty Reinach of Lafayette LA whose friendship spanned more than 70 years,and Pat Delaune-Groetsch,Betty's friend and neighbor of over 35 years.The family would like to thank Pat for her many kindnesses over the years.

All Services will be at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home 4747 Veterans Blvd on Saturday April 9th. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2:30 p.m. immediately followed by a Memorial Service. Relatives and Friends are Invited to attend and Welcomed to Dress Casually.
