I knew Mrs Betty for a number of years before Katrina.  I was her hair stylist, before she moved to California. It was a pleasure knowing her and doing her hair for all those years.

I'll always remember the lovely times we had together, Betty and I. Having met her at Temple Emanu-el to give her a ride home,we continued to see one another for seven years. We attended the SF Symphony  together, sitting in box seats.  We loved to  dine on crab slad a Scoma's on Fisherman's Whaaf, enjoy Chinese food together, and end our dininers at the Clement Bar and Grill with their good key lime pie (which Betty pronounced acceptable.) We visited Golden Gate Park to see the tulips at he windwill each spring. I  wanted Betty to learn to like San Francisco, though she was always homesick  for New Orleans.  I was privileged  to escort Betty to  New Orleans in  2007, when I had a conference there. I saw what was left of her home and met her fmaily. I shall deeply miss my lovely southern friend.  WE had such  good times and memories. We truly loved one another.

I was so fortunate to know Betty when she moved to San Franciso and attended High Holy Day services at Temple Emanu-El.  By a fluke, I connected her with Claire Wahrhaftig for a ride home one year, and they became such good friends. It was always a delight to see Betty's warm and engaging style and to be with this beautiful Southern lady.  Betty, you will be missed. May your memory be a blessing.

Our families were neighbors on Soniat St. in New Orleans so many years ago.  Our mothers remained long-time friends.  Betty was such a pretty, gentle lady.  We remember her fondly and send our condolences to Kenny and the family.

Betty was an amazing woman full of spirit. She was talking with us last week about attending our next program and daytrip at the JCCSF.

We are so sad about Aunt Betty's passing.  She was a vibrant, classy lady.  She loved Mardi Gras and all things New Orleans.  We will miss her phone calls and stories.  She was a very special person!  Kenny, you are in our hearts and prayers.
