Beverly “BB” Richard Dugas, lifelong resident of Jefferson, LA, passed away from a courageous and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. BB was unwavering in her resolve to battle this cancer head on. Our mother had the wisdom to know it was time to enjoy the remaining days of her physical journey with her children, Michele “Shelly” Dugas (Paul Zito) of Kenner, LA, Michael A. Dugas of Raleigh, NC, and Monte A. Dugas of Jefferson, LA.
She is survived as well by grandchildren; Kristen B. Dugas of Grand View, Mo, Lindsey J. Latapie of Chalmette, LA, Sara N. Dugas of Kenner, La, and Callie A. Dugas of Raleigh, NC.; great-grandchildren, Masen E. Dugas of Grand View, MO, Izaiah Dugas of Grand View, MO, and Aidyn Dugas of Grand View, MO. She is also survived by three brothers, Val, Kirby (Diane), and Kenny Broullette, as well as many cousins and extended family members.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 30 years, Vernon “Duke” Dugas, her mother, Yvonne Badeaux Broullette, grandparents, Valentine Badeaux, Octavie Vicknair Badeaux, and special aunts, Margie Rhoe (Calvin) and Ruth Ribe (Eddie).
In her spare time our mother loved to play bingo. However, music was her passion. She especially loved the blues. In the early 1980’s, BB was one half of the Duke A Paducah and BB’s New Orleans 50’s show, that aired on WWOZ 90.7 on Friday nights. Because of their love of music and loyalty to all New Orleans artists, they became passionate advocates on promoting and interviewing local and national artists. BB had her own show properly named BB’s Bad Blues. They became friends with the artists, their families, and a few New Orleans music and OZ fans, such as themselves. Our parents valued their friendship. Our parents adopted 3 children at birth and raised us as their own in a stable, loving home and taught us what loyalty and love is.
An evening visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA from 5-8 PM. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie, LA.
