Bobbie Ann Bergeron, age 80, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in New Orleans on August 18, 1945. Bobbie Ann is survived by her devoted siblings: Paul Henry Bergeron (Donna), Robert Paul Bergeron III (Cathy), Mary Bergeron Vinet (Bill), and Laurie Bergeron Barrois (Chuck). She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Robert P. Bergeron Jr., DDS, and Valdor Fourmaux Bergeron and sister Colette Bergeron Mentz.
She was a beloved “Aunt B” and godmother to a large and loving family of nieces and nephews: Mark Henry Bergeron, Gregory Bergeron (Marissa), Kimberly Bergeron Ayo (Randy), Kristy Bergeron, Chad Mentz (Megan), Jill Mentz Gaunt (Shawn), Brittany Mentz Hull (Larry), Robert P. Bergeron IV (Traci), Adam Bankston (Jill), Codi Bergeron Ackal (Jay), Katie Bergeron Colburn (Kevin), Dustin Vinet (Katie), Jesse Vinet (Stephanie), and Colby Barrois. She was a proud great‑aunt to thirty nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to the special caretakers, Deenen Perkins, Toya Bradford Eloie, Arretta Campbell, LaChelle Jones, Katrina Navarre (Trina), Nereida Mesorio (Nettie), Rosemary Cobb Nunez Cotto and the wonderful care team from Heart of Hospice that added to the quality and comfort of her final years of life.
Bobbie Ann’s life was defined by faith, love, and quiet strength. Her unwavering Catholic faith guided her daily life, shaped her gentle spirit, and sustained her through every challenge. She was a longtime member of St. Agnes Parish and later St. Rita Parish, where she found community, comfort, and purpose. She shared her faith openly — through kindness, prayer, and the way she loved her family. To all who knew her, she was a living example of grace, humility, and devotion.
Diagnosed with epilepsy at an early age, she faced challenges with remarkable perseverance, supported by her devoted mother, grandmothers, and siblings. In truth, “B” became the one who supported everyone else. She never married, choosing instead to dedicate her life to her mother and her family. After the unexpected passing of their father in 1976, and as her siblings moved into their own adult lives, Bobbie Ann became her mother’s steadfast companion. They shared 76 years of unwavering devotion, never an unkind word, and always a goodnight kiss.
She was an Elvis devotee her entire life and a true “Who Dat”. Bobbie Ann graduated from Riverdale All‑Girls High School in 1966 and Jefferson Vo‑Tech, where she became an exceptionally skilled typist. Her talent earned her siblings “extra points” on countless book reports and term papers. She worked for many years and retired from Sears Service Center in Jefferson. For someone who never shopped or cooked, she could diagnose an appliance problem over the phone and have it repaired within days!
Her love of words and language fueled two lifelong passions: reading thousand‑page paperback novels and conquering crossword puzzles with ease. She was a grammar and spelling scholar. Her greatest athletic passion was tennis. From childhood lessons to teenage mastery, she dominated every opponent — family included. Whether in 100‑degree heat or drinking warm faucet water from a lead‑seamed tennis ball can, she played with grit and joy. She won numerous trophies, including the NORD Junior Tennis Championship at age 18, and later the Louisiana Women’s Doubles State Championship. In later years, she became an accomplished bowler at her beloved Bowl‑a‑Rama.
Bobbie Ann’s life was one of quiet heroism — a woman who gave more than she ever asked for, who loved deeply, and who strengthened everyone around her. Her family will forever cherish her gentle spirit, her humor, her loyalty, her faith, and the immeasurable love she shared as their Aunt “B.”
