It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brandon Steven Stewart, who left this world peacefully at home on January 24, 2026, at the age of 25. Born January 17, 2001, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Brandon was the beloved son of Julie Antoinette Pursell and Kent Steven Stewart. Though his time here was far too short, his life was filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to his faith, family and friends.
Brandon was preceded in death by his cherished great-grandparents, Myra and Cornelius McNelis (MeeMaw & PeePaw), Lawrence J. Boteler Jr. (Gramps), Delores and Stanley Stewart (Maw Maw & Paw Paw); his older brother Steven Kent Stewart; his aunt Sylvia Naquin and uncle David Stewart.
He is survived by his loving parents; his sister, Megan Louise Stewart; and his pride and joy, his niece Phoenix Theresa Stewart-Markey, lovingly known by him as his “Phe Phe Bug”. He is also survived by his grandmother Theresa McNelis Boteler; Uncle “Larry” Lawrence J. Boteler III (Caroline); cousin Alyse Boteler “Lee Lee Bug”; uncle Frank Pursell (Lisa) and cousins Jonathan (Amelia), Katey (Ethan), Rachel (Josué), and Emily; Aunts and Uncles, Belinda Murray (Chris), Caroline Corona (David), Maureen McTague (Brian), Delores Morvant, Michelle Collins, Candace Ladner, Debbie Bruton (Michael), Kevin Stewart (Kim), Stanley Stewart III, Cheryl Johnson, Freddie Hickman, along with many other beloved cousins, family members and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Brandon loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, jet skiing, and riding four-wheelers. A natural athlete, he played baseball, basketball, and track, earning multiple honors including a second-place division basketball win. Inspired by his father, grandfather, and uncles, he developed a passion for electrical and construction work. In addition, he was always fascinated with engineering and IT fields. He was in the early stages of building his own electrical and construction company, aspiring to carry on the family legacy as a Master Electrician. He also held a deep love for his country, once dreaming of becoming an Air Force pilot.
A proud graduate of Lutheran High School, Brandon continued his studies at Southeastern University. He was deeply rooted in his Christian faith and was always equipped with the Word, walking boldly in his faith daily. Brandon always referred to his favorite scripture, a staple in our family, Numbers 6:24-26. He loved the meaning behind this prayer, a well-known benediction asking for God’s favor, protection, and peace. He held this scripture close to his heart, taking after his late grandfather’s tradition of praying this prayer daily.
Brandon will be remembered for his strong spirit, contagious laugh, and loving, compassionate heart. Beneath his tough exterior was a gentle soul who would do anything for the people he loved. His kindness, humor, and loyalty has left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A celebration of Brandon’s life will be held at Celebration Church Airline Campus, 2001 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM with the service from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, followed by a reception with food and fellowship from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
Brandon’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for his laughter, his love, and his unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Though we grieve his absence, we find comfort in knowing he is in paradise with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is not goodbye, just a “see you later.” He will be deeply loved and missed until we are reunited together again in glory.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Maria, and the caring staff of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home for their compassion and support.
