

Bruce Joseph Daigneault, husband of Marie Pardo Daigneault for over 50 years, died Friday, July 9, 2021 at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. He was 74. Mr. Daigneault was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana.
He is survived by his son, Scott D. Daigneault (Alicia) and his grandson, Lucas Daigneault; his mother, Alverta B. Daigneault; and a brother, Dr. David J. Daigneault (Gail). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Bradley Daigneault (Lizz), Jenn Daigneault, and Tara Daigneault; grand-niece and nephew: Davey Daigneault and Youree Daigneault; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph L. Daigneault II; a brother, Joseph L. Daigneault III; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
As a boy, Bruce attended Waggaman Elementary School and Westwego Junior High School. Bruce later worked as an electrician’s helper at Avondale Shipyard. He attended and graduated from West Jefferson High School, where he played trombone in both the marching band and jazz band. He received a music scholarship, and attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree. He worked as a science teacher at East Jefferson High School during the platoon system and went on to teach at the newly formed Alfred Bonnabel High School, where he taught Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Earth sciences. His teaching career with the Jefferson Parish Public School System lasted 33 years, inspiring multiple generations of students to develop a love of science. Bruce enjoyed fishing, cooking, astronomy, and traveling, but most of all spending time with his grandson. He was known for his extensive knowledge of science and technology, friendly personality, and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be celebrated at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, LA on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 9:00AM-1:00PM. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
