

Carl Oscar Brown, Jr., 79, attorney and founder of the Maple Leaf Bar, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 in Houston, Texas with his family at his side. He was the loving husband for 48 years of Gayle Bondy Brown and the father of Rachel Brown Parry (Jonathan) and Carl Oscar Brown III (Shen-Ju Chou).
He was the proud grandfather of Edmund Wyn Parry, Claire Charlotte Parry and Amelia Yi-Yan Chou Brown.
He was the son of the late Ruth Venosky Brown and Carl Oscar Brown and was the brother of the late Charles Franklin Brown II.
Although he was born in Nashville, Tennessee, he was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, the city that he loved.
Carl graduated from Gulf Coast Military Academy in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He received a BA in Political Science and Economics from LSU in 1957. He graduated from Loyola Law School in 1963. He was a member of the Louisiana Lodge F&AM 102, Scottish Rite.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA.
