Metairie, Louisiana – Catherine Mary Leonard Cook, 91, died Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at the Academy Residential Care Homes Schouest Street, due to complications of Alzheimer.

Catherine, a native of New Orleans, was born September 21, 1928, to Edward Joseph Leonard and Crella Mary Blanchard Leonard.

Catherine graduated from Redemptorist High School, Class of 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Calvin Louis Cook. They celebrated 70 years of marriage last June.

Catherine worked many years as a maintenance agreement salesclerk for Sears & Roebucks, where she retired in 1979. While retired, she and her husband Calvin enjoyed travelling and visiting with family.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Calvin Louis Cook, three brothers, Percy, Stanwood Paul, and Edward “Buck” Leonard, one stepbrother, Joseph McKinley, and two sisters, Pearl Leonard Austin and Eula Mae Leonard.

Surviving are her son Craig (Linda Hebert) and daughters, Janet Wirth (Dan) and Barbara Lenfant (Ronald Jr.). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Aaron and Jarrod Cook, Tisha Seghers (David) and Kevin Wirth (Breagh Derbes), Kristyn Cuccia (Lucas Joseph II -Joey) and Kolleen Romero (Eric), 10 great-grandchildren, Riley and Lyda Catherine Cook, Jaxon Cook, Nicole and Kyle Seghers, Adam Wirth, Gabriella and Lucas Jerard Cuccia, Caleb and Connor Romero, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Staff of Heritage Hospice and the Staff of the Academy Residential Care Homes Schouest Street.

A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at a later date.
