Charles Bryan, 98, a longtime resident of Kenner, LA, passed away on August 1 following a sudden stroke. He was born in Tampa, FL on Dec. 17, 1927 to parents Joseph Bryan and Alice Hendrix Bryan. Charles was predeceased by his parents, his only sibling Joseph Bryan as well as his longtime dear friend and business associate Carolyn Fittere.
Charles was very successful at both of his careers. His first profession was in music radio. He was a broadcaster and DJ at four stations in Palm Beach/Miami. After moving to NOLA in late fifties he continued in radio at WSMB, WDSU and a long tenure at WWL. Upon leaving radio about 1975 Charles pivoted and entered the financial services profession. He attained several degrees including Master of Science & Management, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). These led to his own financial planning practice, Charles Bryan Financial Group in Metairie and Kenner. He was a member of IAFP and Rotary for many years and served as president of both for several terms.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles R. (Bob) Bryan of Palm Beach, FL, two grandsons Joshua and Matthew Bryan both of Louisiana and nephew Larry Bryan of Ft. Worth, TX.
Services will be conducted at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA on Friday, August 14. Visitation is available from 11:00am- 1:00pm. Funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00pm in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Graveside services and interment will follow in Garden of Memory Cemetery, Bay St. Louis, MS at 3:30 PM
