

Charles Ray “Pete” LeBlanc, Sr. was born on March 14, 1927 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on March 14, 2011 which was his 84th birthday. Charles Ray was born in Maringouin, LA and was a lifelong resident of Old Jefferson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Nancy Snee LeBlanc; one son, Charles Ray "Buttons" LeBlanc, Jr. (wife Carol) of Bogalusa, LA; two daughter-in-Iaws: Sheila LeBlanc of Metairie, LA and Leslie LeBlanc of Mandeville, LA and one sister, Helen Blanchard of Livonia, LA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Chelsea LeBlanc, Casey Morgan (Kody), Heather Mayeux (Zack), Charles Ray "Charlie" LeBlanc, III, and Courtney LeBlanc. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Elliott, Emily, and Jacob Simms; Bailey and AnnaBelle St. Cyr, and Reid and McKenna Mayeux. He was preceded in death by two sons: Thomas Allen "Lennie" LeBlanc and James Donald "Jimmy" LeBlanc; his parents: Lessin and Lucille LeBlanc; 6 brothers:_Nolan, Norman, Cljfton, .Cleveland (Tut), Hubert, Euclid and one sister, Anna Mae Couvillion.
Charles Ray was a retired racetrack official and retired jockey. He traveled and worked on many horse-racing tracks throughout the United States. He was a devoted usher at St. Agnes Catholic Church. "Pete", as he was fondly known to many, loved being outdoors, including fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a quiet, gentle man who loved having his family around.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the ICU staff of East Jefferson Hospital for their kind support and tender care. Also, a special thanks goes to his nurses: Andre, Laura, Devon, Alex and Sandy.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Funeral Mass this morning, Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am.
Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
