She was born on November 12, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana. Connie is survived by her son, Mitchell James Ruiz; her former spouse, Maury Ruiz; her brothers, Richard A. Rehm (Virginia) and Russell T. Rehm; her nieces and nephews: Jennifer R. Trepagnier (Paul), Robert E. Rehm (Courtney), Laurie R. Freeling (Robbie), Gregory R. Rehm (LaDawn); as well as the children of her nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her many beloved cousins and their extended families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Smith Rehm and Merle Marks Rehm; her aunts, Janet Marks Schully, Olga Marks Fasola, Carolyn Marks Cambre, and an uncle, Daniel Robert Rehm.
She was a graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. Connie loved all things New Orleans, from the food and culture, to football season with the Saints, and the many festivals, with perhaps French Quarter Festival being her favorite.
In times between her local activities, she would explore opportunities and resources for travel. She was always planning the next big adventure. At the top of her list would be her annual beach trip with her fellow Sisters of The Gulf Shores.
She spent her professional career as an independent Property Surveyor and Inspector within the insurance industry. But in her true entrepreneurial spirit, she broadened her horizons as she studied and obtained her Private Investigators License.
Connie lived life with the flair of a princess, the heart of a lion, and the courage of a gladiator.
She was a good friend to all who knew her; and her kindness and generosity was not limited only to those she knew. As her friends would say, “Connie never met a stranger”. Her light will live on in the many she touched.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of EJGH Cancer Care, Academy House Residential Care Homes, and The Carpenter House end-of-life care.
