Dawn Hopkins Laughlin died peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in New Orleans to the late James Hopkins and Annadawn Edwards Hopkins, she is predeceased by her husband Patrick and is survived by her sons Wesley and Shane (Jennifer) Warner, her sister Rainbow Shearon, and her grandchildren Cameron, Andrew, and Eliza Warner. Dawn attended Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans before moving to Blacksburg, Virginia, where she graduated from Blacksburg High School. She would go on to receive her associate's degree in nursing from Shoreline Community College in Seattle, Washington, and spent more than four decades as a nurse in Washington, Virginia, and Louisiana. After retiring, she relocated to Texas. Known by her family as Granny, Dawn will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation took place in Texas. Interment will take place at a later date.
A memorial gathering for Dawn will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana 70006.
