

Dolly Matsuye Okubo, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2015, in Metairie, Louisiana. Ms. Okubo was born in Gardena, California, on May 8, 1935 to Hiroji and Fumiko Okubo. She moved with her family to the Rohwer War Relocation Center in Arkansas in 1942, and then to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1946. She graduated from Kenner High School in 1953 and from the University of New Orleans in 1976. She retired as a Personnel Specialist, New Orleans Veterans Administration Hospital, where she had a long and successful career. Dolly was a member of the Japan Club of New Orleans for several years and volunteered at the New Orleans Convention Center after retirement. She enjoyed gardening and cooking special food for family and friends for holiday celebrations, especially New Year’s Day. Left to honor and remember Dolly are her sisters, Alice Motoko Doi, Kazuko Dorothy Wing, Sadaye Okubo Parham, Sumiye Okubo, and her brother, Ronald Sejiwo Okubo; her nieces and nephews: Louis Matsumura, Ella Mae Matsumura, Linda Matsumura, Glenn Doi, Nancy Doi Morbach, Mark Doi, Deborah Wing, Karen Wing, Eric Wing, Adele Parham, Christopher Okubo, and Nicholas Okubo; and her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Doi, Frederick D. Parham, and Ronald Debnam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life at the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, 11:00 AM. All who wish to attend the memorial service are welcome to attend at 12 noon in Leitz-Eagan’s chapel immediately after the visitation.
