Edith Hudson

Edith was born January 29, 1924 in Orvisburg, MS to Thaddeus F. and Mamie Hardy Schrader. One of seven siblings, she grew up in Chicora, Wayne County, MS.

A longtime resident of New Orleans and Jefferson, LA, Edith was married for over 50 years to the late Michel Hudson. She spent her career at and retired from the former South Central Bell Telephone Company. She was a faithful member of the Rio Vista Baptist Church in Jefferson, and more recently the Belaire Baptist Church in Gulfport.

Edith loved to travel and was an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society/ Beach Babes chapter. An avid cinema fan, she loved to go out for lunch and a movie on Sunday afternoon .

The backbone of her family, Edith is survived by two sisters, Joyce Delerno and Beatrice Hubbard, as well as two of her children, Jerry Kelly, Sr., his wife, Marilyn, Wanda Kelly Pfleeger , and her husband, William Pfleeger. She is also survived by her grandchildren, William Pfleeger, Kim Stewart, Kelly Borgstede, David Kellum, Ronald Kellum, Christine Kelly Everett, Camie Kelly, Joseph Kelly, Candace Strickland, Jerry Kelly, Jr., Edie Kelly Pitt, Dean Kelly, Michael Kelly and Pam Kelly. She leaves behind 23 great grandchildren, 6 great great, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Michel , her beloved son, John Kelly, her grandson Steven Kellum,her brothers, Ralph and Thad Franklin Schrader, and her sisters, Juanice Lowery and Genevieve DiFatta.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, March 23, 2013, 11am to 1 pm at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm, followed by interment at Garden of Memories.
