Edward Oliver LaFontaine Sr.

Edward “Pete” LaFontaine, Sr. passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011, with his loving family by his side. He was 81. Beloved husband of Mary “Mary Lou” Scianna LaFontaine for 58 years. Father of Edward, Jr. (Tricia) and Craig Steven (April). Grandfather of Gabrielle, Joshua, Logan, and Jaden. Brother of Earl LaFontaine of Augusta, GA, Danny LaFontaine of Pass Christian, MS and Shirley Schmidt of Pass Christian, MS. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was a barber at The Cutting Post in Harahan, LA for 50 years. He was a member of the VFW Harahan Post and the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence.

A native of Biloxi, MS and a resident of Metairie, LA for 58 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, 1000 N. Starrett Rd. (at the corner of West Metairie) in Metairie on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
