Edwina Rita Chassaniol McCready, age 83, of 4901 Sunny Place, Metairie, LA, passed away on December 21, 2017. She was born in New Orleans, LA on December 17, 1934. Edwina graduated from Ursuline High School, and Dominican College with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was married to Dr. James M. McCready on January 24, 1959 for 56 years, marrying in the Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans. She was a member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. She had such passion for her husband and children, her home, Seascape and the beach in Destin, FL, cooking wonderful meals, and gardening. She was a loving and amazing mother to her daughter, Laura McCready Pizani, and her two sons, Jimmie McCready and Stephen McCready, devoted and loving grandmother to Kathleen Barnes and Austin McCready, mother-in-law of Troy Pizani and Tracy McCready, and of future daughter-in-law Jamie Colosimo Youd. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Dr. James M. McCready on October 1, 2015. Also preceded in death by her devoted mother Lucille Vicknair, her father Edwin Chassaniol, her mother-in-law Edna McCready, father-in-law Melvin George McCready, her aunt Rita Vicknair Giangrosso, and her uncle Walter Vicknair. Her pleasure in life was raising and loving immensely, her husband, 3 children and 2 grandchildren, being a homemaker/housewife, cooking great meals, especially seafood gumbo, red beans and rice, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. She also loved gardening, taking special care of her roses, playing tennis at the Beach Club and Chateau Country Club, playing piano as a child and winning awards for doing so. She was a model with the Star Modeling Studio in her late teens and early 20s, and an elementary school teacher for several years prior to marrying. Her and her husband loved riding bikes and taking walks. Her favorite vacation spots were the beaches in Florida, especially in Destin at the Seascape family home where, summer after summer, she’d spend fun filled, sunny days with her kids and grandkids; where she relaxed, watched movies and ate pizza with her husband, year after year, after the kids were grown. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to places like Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Germany and Ireland. Her and her husband also traveled the states with their children in tow. Las Vegas was a favorite of her and her husbands, and their favorite spot to stay was at Caesars Palace. They also spent many weekends on the coast at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. She always said there’s no place like New Orleans, where her and her husband spent many, many weekends dancing the night away at places such as the Blue Room in the Roosevelt Hotel. The family would like to recognize the loving care and support she received from Judy Robert and Michele Robert at Fidelis Tartan and all the girls who worked and cared for her on a daily basis: Toni Hagan, Jordana Augustus, Jacoby Augustus, Ireal Kliebert, Katrina Freeman, Nakeia Robinson, Grace Archield, Lenare Jordan; the ladies at Fidelis Scofield: Gwen Robertson and Sharon Antoine; the ladies at A First Name Basis, Cynthia Collins and Barbara Brown; the ladies at Central Home Health, Maple Storey and Debra Selman, and nurse Johnny and Gwen.
