Eloise Metzger

Eloise Barrett Metzger, age 99, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 10, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Metzger, Sr. Loving mother of JoAnn E. Metzger, David G. Metzger (Ellen), Charlotte Metzger Moore (Ken), Andrew P. Metzger (Marilyn) and the late Joseph C. Metzger, Jr. Caring aunt of Millard Roberson, Jr. Proud grandmother of Shirley Ann Engelhardt, Kimberly Topp, Lynn Metzger, Linda Prentice, Michelle Mayeur, A.J. Metzger, Steven Metzger and seven great grandchildren. Beloved sister of the late Dorothy Barrett Roberson, both raised by their late aunt Lavinia Barrett. Eloise and Joseph were among the original residents of old Metairie and long-time parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Eloise was an avid gardener and artist with a passion for watercolor painting. Her sense of humor and generosity will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank where Eloise was a life-long supporter.The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Notre Dame Hospice and all her personal caregivers for their loving care. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am and continue until the time of service. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
