Elsie Anne Bourdet Kiral

Elsie Anne Bourdet Kiral, a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Kiral, Jr.; her parents, Anthony George Bourdet and Elsie Anne Galliot Bourdet; her sister, Carlys E. Bourdet; her father-in-law, Joseph Kiral, Sr.; her mother-in-law, Virginia Kiral; and her sister-in-law, Wilma Kiral Mueller.

Elsie is survived by her children: Richard Kiral (Tammy) of Hammond, Louisiana, Michelle Kiral of Prairieville, Louisiana; and Michael Kiral of Hammond, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Caitlyn Kiral and Jamie Kiral of Hammond; her siblings, Nancy Bourdet of Hammond, Louisiana and Catherine Bourdet of Metairie, Louisiana; brothers-in-law, Ron Mueller of Winona, Minnesota, Raymond Kiral (Nancy) of Montgomery, Illinois, and Lyle Kiral (Marylin) of Lewiston, Minnesota and many cousins and friends.

Elsie graduated from Academy of the Holy Angels in New Orleans and attended Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, Louisiana. She always had a smile on her face and the word most commonly used to describe her was “sweet”. She enjoyed working in her beautiful garden and loved her Catholic faith, her Cajun heritage, her pets, Little House on the Prairie, old westerns and sitcoms, reading, word find puzzles, and her Louisiana seafood.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana 70006. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Elsie will be laid to rest with her husband in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001.
