Eric Gregory Arnaud, Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the tenth child of William Ellis Arnaud and Leora Collins. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He passed away on May 13th at the age 69.
He attended St. Raymond Catholic School and graduated from John McDonough High School where he was known as “Pickle.” He married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn Jett on January 12, 1974 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in New Orleans. Their union of 49 wonderful years of happiness was blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Eric was a licensed plumber and a proud member of the UA Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 60 since 1974. He loved to travel and could be found either cruising the Caribbean or driving to Disney World. He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee, fishing, gambling at the casinos, taking care of his yard, and watching football and basketball. He was rarely found indoors as his favorite entertainment when he was alone was taking in “nature’s air conditioning.” He was a stern but loving dad who always had the best life advice, had high expectations for his kids and knew how to stretch a dollar. He took care of his family and spoiled each of us with love and care. We never wanted for anything. He was known as “Paw Paw” to all of his grandchildren who adored him and lit up with excitement every time he entered the room. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. He fought a brave fight with a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ellis Arnaud and Leora Collins; his siblings, Carolyn Hithe, Cecelia James, Helen Mackie, Winifred Paylor, Emma Thomas, Lerna Arnaud, Ronald Arnaud, and twin brother Errol Arnaud.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, JoAnn Arnaud; his daughters, Deidre Arnaud Winnier (Christopher) and Denitta Arnaud Germann (Hans); his son, Eric Gregory Arnaud II; his brothers, Carroll Arnaud and Roland Arnaud; his seven grandchildren, Talia Winnier, Ellis Winnier, Aaron Winnier, Bennett Winnier, Nolan Winnier, Orelia Germann and Francis Germann. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
