She was preceded in death by her parents Luke Edward McHugh and Mary Evans McHugh, son John Johnson, and stepson Harold Smith.
Esther is survived by her adoring husband Jarold Dean Smith, brother Michael McHugh, daughter Jennifer Crews, sons Jeff, Jay, Joe, and Jim Johnson; stepdaughter Tracy Smith, and stepson Jarold Smith. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
