Ethelyn Murphy Raymond

Ethelyn Murphy Raymond was born February 19, 1935 and passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the age of 87. Ethelyn is survived by her children, JoAnne Ascani (Michael), Clifford Raymond (Dina), Warren Raymond (Tina), and Claudette Callahan (John), her grandchildren: Michael Ascani, Jr., Mark Ascani, Michelle Ascani Colombo, Tiffany Gotreaux, Matthew Raymond, Heather Raymond, Shane Raymond, Rebecca Raymond, Angela Williams, John Callahan, Jr., Meghan Callahan, and Kelsey Owens, her great grandchildren: Mackenzie Ascani, Carlie Ascani, Natalie Ascani, Toby Ascani, Rachel Gotreaux, Lydia Gotreaux, Hannah Gotreaux, and Luke Raymond and her stepgreat-grandchildren: Victoria Williams, Perri Callahan, Julianna Williams, Aubrey Audibert, Paul Michael Williams, and Joshua Pearce. She is also survived by her brother, Clifford Thomas Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ethelyn Murphy, her sibllings, Thomas Murphy and Betty Stauder, and her great grandson, John Michael Ascani.

Ethelyn was the troop leader of Troop #5 of the Girl Scouts from 1966 to 1975. She would go on to own and operate Granny’s Cottage Daycare from 1989 to 2004 and later Barn Yard Buddies from 2007 until 2011. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Old Metairie Protestant Church, 1301 Metairie Rd., Metairie, LA. A Celebration of Life will follow in the fellowship hall.
