

Frank Henry passed peacefully on Monday April 29, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born on May 22, 1924 in Seaton, a small farming community in west central Illinois. He graduated from Seaton High School in 1942. He was the son of Frank Buford and Theresa Henry and the youngest of five children. After leaving High School he attended the American Air Craft Institute in Chicago, Illinois and worked for a year at Goodyear Aircraft Co. in Akron, Ohio. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army Medical Corps where he served as a Medical Technician until May 1946. Having reached the rank of Sgt., Frank traveled extensively while in the service, crossing the Atlantic six times and across the Pacific four times. He attended Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1950. While attending the University, he met his wife Alice and was married shortly after graduation. He worked as an engineer in the Farm Machinery Industry in Rock Island, Illinois where his three children came into the family. After a few years, he went to work in the commercial Laundry Machinery industry and was awarded five patents for various designs of machines. He was Chief Engineer of one of the Ametek plants in Portland, Maine for a short time. Frank was a member of The Society of Automotive Engineers for over 50 years. In 1968, the family moved to New Orleans where he worked for Pellerin Milnor Corp. as Sr. Project Engineer and retired there in 1989. His retirement years, he said, were the most enjoyable years of his life. He and Alice traveled all over this fantastic country, reaching 49 of the 5O states and taking cruises to over 10 foreign countries.
Frank was an active member of Parkway Presbyterian Church from 1968 to the present, and served as elder for three terms. His hobby was wood working and he built several of the flower stands, serving table, lecterns and made various repairs as necessary around the church. He was a loving husband of 62 years to Alice Pieper Henry. A devoted father to Dawn Henry Counts, John “JJ” Henry (Lisa), Michael Henry (Mary). Grandchildren: Nicole Counts, Andrew “Drew” Henry, JoAnn Henry, Sarah Henry Walsh, Eric Humble, Katy Humble and Sean Henry. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He will always be loved and remembered by all who knew him.
