To the Hurban family, I am sorry to hear about the passing of George.   I first met George in the Second District where we rode together. He was a good police officer and a good friend. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to work with.  "Eternal rest grant to him O Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him."

I am so sorry to hear this shocking news.  
I have not seen George in years due to leaving NOLA,  but he was truly an instrumental part of my growth as I served under him as a Sergeant in the 4th District in the early 2000's.

George was a really great leader, a magnificent jeweler,🤗 but an even greater friend.

"Thank you George for all the great years you shared with us and my deepest condolences to your loved ones"

So sad to hear about this.  My condolences to the Hurban family.  I worked with Hurban in the 3rd District for years.  We had a lot of great times (especially with Murchison) and fun conversations.  It was a great loss for the department when he retired and a great loss for us all now.

Gorge I spoke with you just about a month ago, and you said you were doing well.  I was very surprised when I was notified by Joseph Bartholemew Golf Course that you had transitioned to be with our Lord.  My deepest condolences to the family and friends of George for I know he will definitely be missed.  Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal, weeping may come for a night but the joy of the Lord comes in the morning.  I will keep all of you in prayer during this very difficult time.  May God bless and keep you all.

George was a great guy and had sense of humor 2nd to none.  We played Golf a lot together and it was always a fun time with him.  He named me HardHat because I hit him in the head with a Golf ball many years ago, so I named him Target.  RIP my friend!


I first met George through his dad, Mr. Joe when I graduated the academy in 1976. I then had the pleasure of working with George in several different districts and assignments. He was a terrific cop and had a great sense of humor. The world was a better place with him in it. RIP brother!

I only met him though the hobby of Police patch collecting, I did trade several times with him. I was able to learn about the hobby of collecting Police memorabilia from him and enjoyed the trades and messages we shared. I wish I could have met up with him the last time I visited New Orleans a few years ago. I will add a patch traded from him to our First Responder Christmas Tree this year.

George was always great to trade patches with and share a good war story or two.  RIP brother.

Rest in peace George.  We traded patches on many occasions and I always enjoyed the "police life lessons and war stories" we would talk about after completing the trade.  Rest in peace.

There are just too many to mention! George and I worked together in the 4th and 3rd districts, we’re friends for many years and played golf together regularly. 
George helped me become a better supervisor with the police department and he and I played many rounds of golf together. 
He was my friend, my co-worker, my brother in blue, I will miss him greatly!
R.I.P. my friend, while tough to say good bye, you are in a better place and we will meet again someday on that golf course in the heavens!
