George Salvadore Modica, age 82, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2026. George was born on January 25, 1944, in New Orleans. He was the son of the late George Modica and Angelina Serio Modica. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn D. Modica and his brother Frank Modica. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Dow; niece, Debra Girau (Roger); great-niece, Victoria Guchereaux; cousin Roland Modica; nephews Raymond, Richard, and Michael Flick; sister-in-law Cathi Fontenot Modica; nephews Michael and Matthew Modica; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He graduated from Warren Easton High School, served in the Army National Guard, and worked for NASA Michoud. Later, throughout much of his career, he was employed in the sales industry and formed many meaningful friendships along the way. George enjoyed his daily cup of coffee, friends, NASCAR, and driving his Mustang.
His family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know him will remember him for his sense of humor, sarcastic wit, his kindness, and the memories their shared with him. May he rest in peace and be surrounded by love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation beginning at 11:00 with a prayer service at 1:00 on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana.
