

He is preceded in death by his parents, June Acosta Walker and George Walker Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sol Ortiz Walker, their daughter, Debbie Lynn Walker (Matthew Perry), and granddaughter, Rosalee Mckenna Perry. He is also survived by his siblings, Clyde Walker (Joy), Alma Cannon (Jim), and Charlotte Ocon, as well as many other relatives and friends.
George graduated from Lafayette High School and attended Southwestern University in Lafayette before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he studied electronics and radar communications. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Mississippi, Arizona, Japan, Italy, and Louisiana and spent a total of eight years in the military. After being discharged, he moved back to Kenner, LA where he met the love of his life, Sol Aida Ortiz and was married in 1972. He was a self-proclaimed inventor, researcher and problem solver who loved to self-educate himself on complex theories, mathematics, and mechanics. His favorite hobbies were reading, studying Hebrew and the Bible, and tinkering with the inner workings of various machines and pieces of technology. He was very interested in history and loved researching the meaning of names and their interconnection to people and places. He always enjoyed sharing his knowledge of history and the Bible and formerly served as a deacon at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Kiwanis club and the American Legion.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 9AM – 11AM with a service to begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
