Gerald L. Boubede

Gerald Louis Boubede, age 75, was called home on Saturday, June 8, 2024, by his Lord and Savior and entered eternal rest. Cynthia Boubede, his loving wife of 38 years, was by his side. He is survived by his two sons, Edward Wehl Postlethwait Jr. (Cassie) and Sean Michael Boubede (Jessica); his cherished grandchildren, Edward (Tre’) Wehl Postlethwait III and Alyssa Marie Postlethwait, Catherine Lamartiniere, Anthony Canal, and Peyton Pritchett. He is also survived by his sisters, Eileen Graziano and Lorraine Holmes (Harold); a brother, Alan (Anna); his mother-in-law, Gladys Byrne Spencer; sisters-in-law, Janet Boubede, Linda Grillot (Richard), Roxane Spencer, Terri Slavich (Sam) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene Joseph Boubede Sr. and Mildred Feindel Boubede; a brother, Rene Joseph Boubede; his father-in-law, Rex Allen Spencer Jr. and a brother-in-law, Robert Graziano.

Gerald served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division. Afterwards, he worked for Franklin Southland Printing Company for 40 years as an offset printer and received a Master Printers of America Certificate for craftsmanship.

He was born and raised in New Orleans. He loved all the New Orleans festivals, music, and food. He was always the life of the party. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, cooking, and socializing with friends and family. He loved playing with his grandchildren and was always an ear that listened for anyone that was down and needed some cheering up. He was a loving, thoughtful husband, father, and grandfather.

He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Special thanks to all the family, friends and Heart of Hospice for their compassionate and loving care during these last seven months.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am.
