Gerald Lance “Pop” McManus passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the age of 75. He was born in Montgomery, LA. He lived in and loved South Louisiana for 50 years. He is remembered as loving husband to his wife of 53 years Ann McManus; father to three daughters Margie Langmead, Cindy Barbara, Michelle Zara and their spouses Tom, Mark & Albert; Proud grandfather of five to Amy Ruiz & her husband Mario, Jessica Zara, Tom Langmead, Anthony Zara, and Liz Langmead; Great grandfather to Jacob and Cameron; Big brother to his sister Carolyn Davis; “Gofetchem” to his dog Roscoe; and Pop to so many he loved “like his own”. He was a self-proclaimed “piscatologist”, a Jeopardy phenom and a champion of the underdog. He never met a stranger and he loved without reserve. He promised never a dull moment and he kept his word. Hunter S. Thompson summed up his theory on life well: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”.“
Family and friends are invited to A Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 29 at 2:00PM at “like his own” Lisa Tarto’s house at 420 Bowler Dr. in Harahan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Gleason Initiative Foundation, http://www.teamgleason.org/donate/.
Condolences may be offered at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com
May the holes in his net be no larger than the fish in it.
