Geraldine Candela

Geraldine Chabert Candela, age 81, lost her battle with lung cancer on Monday, January 16, 2012. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Justo Anthony Candela, her parents , Louis P. Chabert, Sr. , Margaret Cervini Chabert, her stepmother Caroline F. Chabert and granddaughter, Katie Clark. She is survived by her three children, Kenneth Michael Candela, his wife Sandy, Kerrie Candela Clark, her husband Mike and Kristie Candela Powers, her husband Eric. She is also survived by her grandchildren Corey Candela, Courtney Murphy, Jamie Clark, Jessica Piper, Johnathan Clark, Justin Clark, Bradley Powers, Christopher Powers and Luke Powers and three great-grandchildren, Edward Boudreaux IV, Olivia & Maxwell Murphy. She will dearly missed by many of her friends and family, especially her sisters-in-law, Betty Chalaire, Jacquelin Bettencourtt and Beverly Foley. Geraldine was active as a volunteer at St. Cecilia School ,the Academy of Holy Angels and recently was a member of the Golden Age Club at Girard Playground. She loved life, her New Orleans Saints, hanging out at Dot’s Diner and her Tuesday Ladies Lunch group. A very special lady who made you laugh when you wanted to cry. Thanks to the 5th floor oncology unit at East Jefferson for their kindness and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at Leitz- Eagan Funeral Home 4747 Veterans Blvd. on Friday,January 20th at 12 noon. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golden Age Club, attn: Pauline, 3737 Virginia Dr. Metairie, LA 70002.
