Gertrude Taichman Rosenblat, age 86 years, died at her New Orleans residence on Thursday, August 5, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Rosenblat. Devoted mother of Ruth Loeffelholz (Joel) and Henry Rosenblat (Susan). Grandmother of Scott Loeffelholz (Jenny), Michael Loeffelholz (Lauren), Brian Rosenblat (Julie) and Brad Rosenblat (Jacqueline). Great grandmother of Katy and Nathan Loeffelholz and Talia Rosenblat.
She was the daughter of the late Rifka Finkelstein and Moshe Taichman and the sole survivor of seven brothers and sisters who lost their lives during the Holocaust. She was a native of Radom Poland, and lived in New Orleans for the past 63 years. She was the retired co-owner with her late husband of Ralph’s Kosher Meat & Delicatessen. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, a life member of Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women. She also lectured to high school students regarding the perils of the Holocaust.
Mrs. Rosenblat will always be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving lady who had a warm way of touching people, one who would open her home and heart to all. She was a phenomenal cook and baker and a volunteer for community causes. Nothing, however, was as important to her as the devotion she had to her family—they were her life and joy.
