

Gladys Rivera, mother of Lorraine Rivera of Kenner and Frank Guillamon of Staten Island, N.Y., grandmother to Jennifer Smith of Lafayette, La, Peter Guillamon of Staten Island, N.Y., and John Guillamon of Deep River, Ct., in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins who all reside Florida, was call home by the Lord God on the 10th day of February, 2013. She was 91. Born in the Dominican Republic where she lived until she was 17, moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. as a hairdresser owning her own beauty parlor for 20 years, moved to Miami where she lived and worked for about 10 years; then, moved to live near her daughter Lorraine while living independently for the next 30 years. She lived her final months at her daughter's home. She attended Vineyard Church of New Orleans with her daughter most every Sunday during the time spent living with her and son-in-law in Kenner. Death gave her release from adult onset dementia which inhibited her from remaining a viable and independent woman. A Graveside Service will be held in her honor at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM.
