Harold Rudolph Dauphin, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27. He is survived by his daughter Janet Dauphin Fox, granddaughter Kristen Fox and son-in-law David. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Imogene Pierce Dauphin, and daughter Kristen Cecelia and parents Frances Reitmeyer Dauphin and Marion Joseph Dauphin, as well as his three brothers Derbes (DD) Dauphin, Donald (Buckeye) Dauphin and Marion (Dookie) Dauphin. His surviving siblings include: Dennis Dauphin, Edward Dauphin, David Dauphin, Brenda Zeringue, Doris Green and Marie Moran. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. He attended Sacred Heart School, Redemptorist High School and Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI). He served in the Louisiana National Guard and was employed at the American Can Company, NOPSI and the RTA. “Poppi” took the road less traveled, and by that we mean he drove wherever his wife, Imogene and friend Cynthia would tell him. From exiting highways to chase steeples to hauling 8 adults and children from New Orleans to Canada, Harold could be counted on. Harold was an avid college and amateur sports fan, but especially loved both baseball and whoever was playing against LSU. He had a more active social life in his 80s than most 20 year olds. Clubs, lunches and organizations included: The Good Friends, Redemptorist Alumni Association, Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club, “AARP - Aging Alcoholics of Redemptorist Parish,” The Diamond Club of New Orleans, Manresa House of Retreats, American Legion Post 0175 and Sacred Heart Alumni Association. On Wednesday he lunched with his favorite ladies, Thursday with his SLI alumni and never missed his monthly defibrillator meeting. The family wishes to thank all of Harold’s devoted friends and neighbors for their unceasing love and support, especially: Ray Cook, Cynthia Tusa, Arrin and Marvin Gresse, Joy and Eddie Corass, Monk Lemoine, Gerry Aitken, Anthony Calcagno, Bill Fretwell and Diane and Gus Hotstream. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Wednesday evening, May 31, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday morning, June 1, 2017 at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Drive in Metairie beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 noon.
