Harold "Poppy" Anthony Mayer Sr.

Harold "Poppy" Anthony Mayer, Sr. passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013. He was born on December 30, 1948 to Earbin Ernest Mayer, Jr. and Grace Leora Conaway. Beloved husband of Sandra Lipps Mayer for 44 years. Beloved father of Laurie Mayer Johnson (wife of Jesse Andrew Johnson, Jr.), and Harold Anthony Mayer, Jr. (husband of Lisa Bonck Mayer). Grandfather of Caitlyn Leigh Mayer, Seth Ean Johnson, Tyler Nicholas Johnson, and Connor Louis Mayer. Brother of the late Earbin Mayer, III, the late Thurlow Mayer, Sr. (Raquel), Allen Mayer (Joan), the late Leora Lloyd (late Harry Lloyd), the late Evelyn Scarabin (Herbert), and the late Gerardel Yarbrough (Charles). Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Mayer was a former diesel mechanic of Port Ship Service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home's chapel.
