

Henry Joseph Bonck, III (84) of New Orleans, LA entered into eternal rest at his home with his loving wife, Jo Ann Hosey Bonck, on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was 84. Henry was born to Henry Joseph Bonck, Jr. and Gladys Scapiro Bonck on August 15, 1939. Henry was an avid fisherman ever since he was a child. Family vacations always included travel with his boat to a location close to fishable waters. Grand Isle and Toledo Bend were some of his favorite spots, and he often went fishing in Lake Ponchartrain. Henry and his family spent many Thanksgiving holidays in Grand Isle as well. He taught both of his children to fish, often in the way too early hours of the morning.
Henry attended UL and he was a member of the US Navy for 13 years where he achieved the rank of first- class petty officer. Mr. Bonck was an aviation electronic technician and later in his US Navy career, he was an instructor teaching the aforementioned. Henry worked for Communications Services of Louisiana and Tomba Communications with whom he did electronic service work for customers such as the Superdome, hospitals, and police communications and others. Mr. Bonck also volunteered his time to periodically check up on the sound system for St. Francis Xavier School on Metairie Road when his children attended there. Mr. Bonck volunteered once every month with the Feed the People Program with the Lantern Light Ministries. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ludovicum 4663, and he was the board secretary for the Olde Metairie Boys for many years.
Henry is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Hosey Bonck, and his children, Charlene Diane Bonck (Richard Poyner Jr.), and William Henry Bonck (Nicole) as well as his grandchildren: Rebecca Poyner Touchet (Christopher), Amanda Bonck Huntington (Jesse), Christian Patrick Crout, and Matthew Joseph Poyner. Henry is also survived by his younger brother, Lionel Nolan Bonck, his nephew, Stephen and nieces, Heather and Shannon.
Mr. Bonck’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 835 Melody Dr. in Metairie. Visitation begins at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 noon. The interment will be held in Graham Cemetery in Franklinton, LA at a later date for family only. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Knights of Columbus 4663 at 3712 Metairie Court, C/O Financial Secretary, Metairie, LA 70002.
